IV Sedation and Anesthesia

Many, many patients are very anxious about having oral surgery. You are not alone. Whether you would benefit from general anesthesia or intravenous (IV) sedation is a choice that you make regarding your surgery. After talking with Dr. Levy at your consultation, you and he will decide which of the many anesthesia options would most benefit you. These options range from "Novocaine" to sedation to general anesthesia. Dr. Levy will review the pros and cons of each at your consultation.

Anesthesia/Sedation is a wonderful invention that has benefited millions of people who would not otherwise be able to have oral surgery due to fear and pain. In fact, anesthesia was first demonstrated in the 1840's by a dentist at The Massachusettes General Hospital, which is also where Dr. Levy did his Oral Surgery and Anesthesia training.

Dr. Levy's extensive anesthesia experience is available to you, should you and he agree it is in your best interest at your consultation visit.

Dr. Levy is Board Certified in oral surgery. He is also a fellow (by examinaion) in the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology.
